Chevy Gets Inspiration from an Old Childhood Toy

No, we're not toying with you, Chevy, in collaboration with Mattel, has created a new concept based on the original Hot Wheels Camaro. Perhaps you remember it, in all of its Spectraflame-paint and redline-tire glory.

Need a refresher? It was clad in iridescent bright green paint and fitted with dramatic, oversized wheels. And, just like the three-inch toy model, the new Chevy Camaro Hot Wheels concept features those same distinguishing components.

Speaking on the decision to create the novel model, Phil Zak, Design Director, GM says, "The [Chevrolet] Camaro has been a mainstay in the Hot Wheels lineup since…

The Chevrolet COPO Camaro

There's been a lot of talk about the forthcoming Chevy Camaro ZL1 as of late. But, there's a new Camaro concept in the gullwings that warrants attention, too. Calling upon a bygone era when Chevy could sneak a high-performance variant past the powers that be at GM, straight into discerning auto connoisseurs' hands, it's called the COPO (Central Officer Production Order) Camaro.  However, this highly-advanced model, designed to meet the stringent codes outlined by the NHRA Stock Eliminator drag racing competition, won't go unnoticed.

That's what makes Chevy's latest concept, the COPO Camaro, so…

Chevrolet 'Sparks' Interest with New Mini Car

Underscored by the release of the Volt plug-in hybrid, Chevrolet has been keeping busy generating interest in EV technology.  Their dialogue around the zero-emissions system has been running since the beginning of the year. It's beenVolt wins this award. Volt breaks that record. That's all good and well. But, some enthusiasts are understandably starting to get tired of hearing the EV's name.  Chevy gets it.

Familiar with the Spark? Well, in mid October, Chevrolet announced plans to produce a pure electric variant of the mini car. Dubbed the Spark EV, it's still in developmental stages…

Chevrolet Camaro Delivers 580 Horsepower

We've known about the development of the Camaro ZL1 for a long time, now. Chevy, however, has been pulling the oldest pre-launch trick in automakers' book: ultra-vague, big promises. Of course, it's worked, putting us on the edge of our seats - even if all they've had to say is that it will trounce the competition... not actually how much horsepower it will deliver.

As the saying goes, "good things come to those who wait" as Chevrolet has just recently provided some of the details we've been waiting patiently for. But instead of mitigating our anticipation, it…

Betty Skelton: Daredevil and Chevrolet Corvette Test Driver

Among the many characters responsible for shaping the Chevrolet brand, Betty Skelton is perhaps one of the more interesting. She passed away at 85 years old late this August. And, in honor of her trailblazing spirit we hope lives on forever, we'd like to offer a brief retrospective.

What did an 85-year-old woman have to do with American automaker, Chevy? A lot! She actually began her career in the auto industry in 1956. That would be enough to break social norms in and of itself. Pushing the envelope even further, Skelton entered the auto industry via racing. After setting…

Chevrolet Lends Volt Technology to Cadillac

What do Chevrolet and Cadillac have in common? Well, for one, they're two companies under the larger GM umbrella. Secondly, Chevy has agreed to share something Caddy wants: the state-of-the art electric vehicle (EV) technology used in the Volt hybrid.

Why has Chevrolet agreed to share their expertise with the Crowned Shield? Well, because like most good siblings they know how to give and take. So, when the American luxury automaker asked Chevy to use their Volt technology in a new production model, they couldn't refuse.

The new Caddy slated to gain the Chevy Volt powertrain is officially…

Chevrolet Orlando Heads To Canada

As of now, the Chevrolet Orlando may be headed to Canada, but still won't see the light of day in America. General Motor's decision to keep the European-style Orlando out of United States dealerships seems to be a mystery, though US audiences already have the Chevrolet Equinox to purchase at Hampton Chevrolet - 1073 W. Mercury Blvd. Hampton, VA, which is quite similar to Orlando.

But Canadian audiences should get in line to check out this great new vehicle from Chevrolet. Available for a short time already in Europe, Orlando's small frame is misleading. You can fit a…

Watch Out for the Chevrolet Volt in NYC

Hampton Chevrolet of the Hampton, VA area, wants to warn residents and visitors of NYC to be on the lookout for the Chevrolet Volt. Yes, the EV is eco-friendly, but the driver may not be as easy going...especially  if you've let your meter run out.

This greening up of the NYPD is thanks largely to the city's recent purchase of 70 electric vehicles, 50 of which are Chevy Volts. In addition to being used by traffic enforcement agents abhorred by all, the Volts and other EVs bought by the city will be used by New York City…

Chevy Cruze Tops the Charts for June Sales

As many of us were celebrating our countries Independence over the 4th of July, Chevrolet was celebrating something else. Recent breaking numbers show that the Cruze, Chevrolet's new compact-vehicle, was the best-selling passenger car in the U.S. during the month of June, surpassing perennial favorites made by Honda and Toyota.

Specifically, Chevy Cruze sales for June 2011 ring in at 24,896 units...about 1,100 units more than the larger Chevrolet Malibu sedan. The Cruze was so popular last month that it wasn't just the best-selling passenger car in the U.S., it was the third…

New Chevrolet Police Cruiser on the Streets

Speeding isn't safe, but one would be lying to say it doesn't give a good adrenaline rush from time to time.
